Clare Balding and the BBC Countryfile team come to visit

Clare Balding and the BBC Countryfile crew were in our well Country Clothing and Fishing Tackle shop recently (shown on TV last night) as they prepared for a day out on the Grouse Moor. Clare needed to look the part and as all the new autumn winter ranges were in stock she chose to visit us to view the range and get some advice on latest product and trends. The crew arrived early and Clare spent over an hour with our very own James Norris discussing the different jackets, breeks, shirts etc. We also have a great range of footwear for walking the moors and James was able to show her different boots. Clare chose the Musto technical tweed ladies range for her day’s filming, shown below. Clare wears: - - Musto ladies stretch technical tweed jacket - Musto ladies stretch technical tweed waistcoat - Musto ladies stretch technical lightweight tweed breeks - Musto Buckden shooting boots - John Norris Lady Katrine stockings James Norris explained to her how tweed had developed over the years and how it was now a real modern lighter, breathable, washable fabric which also has great freedom of movement for shooting. This Musto stretch tweed range for women is in a feminine Rowan Tweed, when complimented with a matching pair of John Norris Lady Katrine shooting stockings in purple and Musto Buckden boots, Clare left the John Norris shop with all she needed for a great day out. Matt Cummins was also in the shop representing Musto; he did a great job explaining the Musto range and added further technical details, which are so important when choosing shooting clothing James Norris said ‘it was a delight meeting Clare, she was really interested in the shop and surprised by the vast product range we keep’. Clare was looking forward to being out on the moors especially when the weather is so good. She told James that she had shot before and had also been out beating. The BBC Countryfile team are putting together a piece for their next series about the role of Grouse Shooting. They were off to meet up with a group of girls who also shoot. Clare was also surprised and pleased to meet some friends who had travelled many miles to the shop, she chatted to them before leaving for the moors. We are a long established family business which brings visitors from all over the world to Penrith, a small market town in Cumbria. Not only do we mail out products all over the world but it is the destination shop for all Fisherman, Shooters and country people. Each week John Norris see many customers who are on their way to Scotland or Yorkshire, where they will be going shooting or fishing, they  call in and visit Penrith, a town on the edge of the Lake District only 2 minutes from both the M6 and the A66.
