Things to do in the Lake District: July

1. SKELTON SHOW
Nestled in the charming Old Park at Hutton in the Forest near Penrith, this show boasts a grand display of over 150 trade stands, cementing its status as one of the largest events in the region.
Running since the late 1800s, the Skelton Show is one of the major agricultural shows in Cumbria hosting a large horticultural and industrial marquee, alongside classes of cattle, sheep, horses, vintage vehicles and much more.
2. CHILLSWIM ULLSWATER
Dive into the ultimate aquatic adventure with a 7.5-mile open water swim from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge, covering the entire stretch of Ullswater. The swim will be taking place on 15th July for all avid water-lovers, a fun activity during the scorching summer days.
3. PENRITH SHOW
The perfect family day out - with an array of exciting activities to enjoy, including trade stalls, a food hall, crafts marquee, farm livestock competitions, and show jumping, there's something for everyone at the Penrith Show.
Tickets can be bought in advance and children under five go for free!
4. NAVIGATION ON LANGDALE PIKES
Embark on an exciting navigation course that promises to equip you with the necessary skills to plan your route and assess your surroundings with ease. Not only will it keep you safe, but it will also boost your confidence when exploring.
This introductory course will allow anyone with a curiosity for navigation to explore the stunning surroundings of the Langdale Pikes, sending you away with all of the necessary skills for map reading and outdoor walking.
5. AMBLESIDE SPORTS
Get ready for an action-packed day out with the family! The event lineup is jam-packed with exciting activities such as wrestling, track races, children’s races, fell & guide races, hound trailing and grass track cycling.
The Ambleside Sporting event will take place on 27th July and is a perfect outing for families and friends who love taking part in sports.
