About Our Shop - 201106
We can’t wait to welcome you back! Our priority is to keep both you and our team safe and to make your shopping experience as enjoyable as possible. We’ve been busy redesigning our store layout to improve your shopping experience and ensure you’re able to keep a safe social distance.
We recommend parking across the road from the store at Sainsbury’s, where you can have 3 hours free parking. Click here for a map and directions.
New temporary opening times will be Monday to Sunday 10am to 4pm.
We’ve enhanced cleaning practices, including sanitising baskets after every use and regularly cleaning the touchpoints around our shops. We’ll also be providing hand sanitiser at entrances and around the store for you to use.
PAYMENTS AND COLLECTIONS
We’ve installed protective screens at our tills and have made designated areas for offering advice from a safe distance. We encourage you to pay by card and we’ve increased our contactless payment limit to £45.
KEEPING YOUR DISTANCE
Help us keep everyone safe by keeping a 2-metre distance from customers and staff when you're in the shop. We’ve added new signage to help guide you.
YOU MAY NEED TO QUEUE
We’re required to limit the number of customers in the store at any one time, so you may have to queue to enter the shop. A customer-service host will be on hand to ensure we welcome you into the store as quickly as it’s safe to do so. If possible, we ask you to make your visit as swift as possible to minimise your exposure.
A NOTE FROM JOHN NORRIS
During these unprecedented times, we want to reassure you that the health and safety of our customers, employees and their families continues to be our number one priority. Now is the time for us to come together and support one another more than ever.
We’re doing all we can to navigate the unknown and will continue to be led by all Government, Public Health England and World Health Organisation advice. We will respond accordingly to the rapidly changing situation as advised by those experts.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to our teams for all of their hard work and efforts in these uncertain times. We’d also like to thank you, our customers, for continuing to support us. It’s not been easy for anyone and we’re lucky to have a John Norris family that pulls together to make the best of any situation.
Stay safe, see you soon. John Norris
John Norris has been the home of country sports for 49 years, specialising in fly fishing, shooting, country clothing, footwear and pet accessories. We’re a family-run business, with a shop in the heart of Cumbria that’s evolved to become a mecca of the North – a place where fishermen, shooters and dog walkers alike can feel at home.
At John Norris, family and community have always been the most important things to us.
The business first began life in 1971, when the eponymous John Norris saw an opportunity to create a one-stop-shop for fishermen travelling to and from Scotland. Located at junction 40 just off the M6 motorway, the shop was the perfect stop off for people heading out on fishing trips.
The store became an instant hit, with both local and further-flung fishermen treating it as a base for all their fishing needs. As the business took off, John’s parents, John and Florence, joined forces to help him manage the store, selling their toyshop and investing all their energy into the John Norris business. In 1977, Florence helped John expand to mail-order selling, one of the UK’s first country clothing brands to do so.
Now, John’s children, James and Laura, work alongside him to run the business, with a lifetime of country-sports knowledge at their disposal.
Customer service has always been the driving force behind our business, and we take pride in going that extra mile for our customers – whether that’s field-testing new products or helping you choose the right fishing rod. Our team is always on hand to provide a personal advice service, and will be more than happy to offer tips, technical information or extra details about our extensive range of products. Some of them have been here since day one, so they really know their stuff!
If you have any questions about any of our products, or you just need a spot of advice, please get in touch!
