Barbour, more formally known as J. Barbour and Sons, is a clothing company that has grown from strength to strength over recent years. Founded by John Barbour in 1894, who imported vast amounts of oil cloth, the brand has now become the standard all others aspire to when it comes to waxed cotton outdoor jackets and other such garments.

Such a reputation has the brand built, that people across the UK, Europe and indeed the rest of the world now refer to waxed cotton jackets simply as a Barbour, irrespective of who they were made by.
