Wellingtons

Wellingtons can be very basic or very sophisticated, and your requirements will help you to decide which wellingtons will be right for you.

  • You might want a pair of wellingtons to keep in the car over winter so that if you have to abandon the car, you can walk home. You might want a new pair of wellingtons for wearing everyday when you take the dog for a walk.
  • If you want wellingtons for your children, then you'll have completely different requirements than if you need new wellingtons and you're a farmer.
  • You might wear wellingtons all year round, or you might just want them for a summer music festival, or when you're gardening, or going out in the rain, or out for a walk in the countryside.
  • Depending on your job, you might wear your wellingtons all day long, and so you'll need different features to someone who might wear their wellingtons for a couple of hours a month when they're doing the garden.
  • It might be that you want your wellingtons to look smart at all times. Perhaps you work outdoors with the public in a park, or work with horses, or visit construction sites.
  • There are several additional features that you might want for your wellingtons. How would wellingtons with a quick dry lining, or removable inner soles for summer and winter benefit you if you need to be outside in all weathers, all year round?
  • Some wellingtons are made with neoprene to keep you warm when the weather is cold. You might be spending a lot of time standing in water, or working in muddy conditions, and so you'll want your wellingtons to keep your feet as warm as possible.
  • You'll want to make sure that your new wellingtons are a good fit, and that they are comfortable. This will be even more important if you need to wear wellingtons all day every day.
  • If you're choosing wellingtons for your children, or for your leisure time, then you might want bright colours or bold designs. If you need your wellingtons to look professional, or to blend in with your surroundings, then you'll want to choose something more subdued.
  • The cost of your wellingtons should be based on how often you wear them and the features you need from them. If you're buying a pair of wellingtons to keep in the car, and hopefully will never need to wear, then there's no point in spending a lot on them. Alternatively, if you're a farmer, or vet, and will be wearing your wellingtons all the time, then you'll want to spend as much as it takes to get the right level of comfort and warmth whatever the weather, or to make you look professional.
