Fishing Fly Information

The fishing fly is probably the most important item of fishing tackle that you'll ever use. You'll need the fishing fly you use to be as authentic as possible, so that the fish are attracted to it and believe that its food. What might seem unattractive to you, might be just the thing to you need to have a successful day's fishing.

If you're new to fishing, then you'll probably be overwhelmed with choice when it comes to choosing a fishing fly. With names like Adult Emergers, Czech Nymphs, Fritz Blobs and Zonkers, it's not easy to guess which ones you'll need.

Your local fishing club will also be able to point you in the right direction, so that you using the right fishing fly. If you go fishing at different times of the year then you might need different sorts of fishing fly. Different weather conditions can play a part too. Will fish be nearer the surface, or nearer the bottom? What about when it's windy or sunny?

There are lots of different sorts of fishing fly, so initially you might not know what you need. There are separate types of fishing fly for salmon fishing and trout fishing, so you'll need to consider what you're fishing for.

It’s a good idea to have many types and sizes of fishing fly with you, so that you can change your fly if the fish aren’t biting. Whilst you might be blaming your rod, reel or line, or the weather, it could be something as simple as the wrong fishing fly that's stopping you from catching fish.

A fishing fly selection can also be a good present for the angler in your life, and hopefully will help them catch more fish.
